This set is minics a vintage school writing box, and makes a great collectors item for the beginner and advanced calligrapher. A great unique gift item!

Included is a bottle of the delightful J. Herbin Violette Pensee (Pensive Violet) ink. The Pensive Violet is also a flower from the very same name. Since Napoleon I, French pupils used violet ink color, known as the least expensive color (at the time). This ink was made of methyl-violet, also used to disinfect wounds.

The La Perle des Encres burnt into the wood cover means "The Pearl of Inks".
